The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed to approve Adama’s nematicide Nimitz 480 EC (active ingredient: fluensulfone) for use prior to planting cucurbits, tomatoes (not for processing), capsicum, chilli, eggplant and okra.

Australia has approved fluensulfone as a new active ingredient last September. Adama’s Nimitz is a broad-spectrum, nonfumigant nematicide providing particularly good control of root-knot nematodes. It has got registration approvals from US EPA and many states of US.

A comprehensive toxicology and public health dataset was submitted for registration of fluensulfone and associated product in the USA, Canada and Australia as part of a Global   Joint Review. The toxicology assessment of fluensulfone was conducted jointly by scientists from the USA (US EPA), Canada (PMRA), and Australia (OCS).

This proposal is open to public comment until July 28th.
