Paraguay gives green light for Monsanto’s NK603 corn
Date:07-03-2013
“The approval of Monsanto’s genetically-modified NK603 corn is imminent because all technical reports are favorable; the Executive branch intends to authorize the commercial use of that technology as soon as possible, within the current term of office”, said the Minister of Agriculture, Rody Godoy.
He reminded that this technology will be added to other four varieties of genetically modified corn authorized on October 24, 2012, such as the transgenic corn events VT Triple Pro and MON810, which belong to Monsanto; Syngenta’s BT11; and Dow AgroSciences’ TC1507, a unit of Dow Chemical.
With regard to biotechnology applied to soybean, it is important to remember that last February 12 MAG authorized the commercial release of soy seeds containing the stacked events MON87701 x MON89788, known in the market as “BtRR2Y soy, or Intacta soy”.
