Bayer launches herbicide Alion for fruit trees in Argentina
Date:06-03-2013
Bayer CropScience launched herbicide Alion (Indaziflam) for fruit trees in Argentina, which is already well-known around the world due to its efficacy and weed control.
It is a non-selective contact herbicide of broad spectrum to be used in citrus, fruit trees and grapes. It is a pre-emergent product with long-term residual effect control of up to 90 days, applied to weeds coming from seeds (annual, biennial, perennial), either monocots or dicots. Its active ingredient Indaziflam, belongs to the Alkylazine chemical group (Fluoro alkyl triazine) and its action mode inhibits cellulose biosynthesis, resulting in a better control of weeds resistant and tolerant to traditional herbicides”.
The German firm holds that this is an attractive product to introduce to any management weed program that aims to prevent resistance adoption. Juan Ignacio De Castro, responsible for Fruit Crop Marketing at Bayer CropScience, points out that it has a “long-term residual effect and great resistance to Indaziflam degradation when different environmental variables appear in fruit and citrus lands, vineyard, and olive groves”
