Tata Chemicals to set up customized fertilizer plant

Chandigarh, India-based Tata Chemicals plans to set up a US $10 million fertilizer plant in Uttar Pradesh for manufacturing customized farm nutrient formulated for the soil fertility of the local area.
The 20-ton-per-hour facility will cater to about 15 villages in the region as soon as 2010, according to the company.
Tata Chemicals claims it is the first customized fertilizer plant in India.
Khet se, the joint venture between Tata Chemicals and Irish agri-products distributor Total Produce, will also see an investment of $50 to $60 million in the next three years with 20 new distribution centers lined up for the launch.
