Exports of the five organophosphate insecticides previously banned for agricultural use in China will only be permitted until the end of 2008, states the Chemical Registration Center of the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection. Due to the 20-day review process, export applications for the active ingredients, methamidophos, parathion-methyl, parathion, phosphamidon and monocrotophos, will only be accepted until December 5th.?
The phase-out programme for the “high-toxicity” insecticides began in 2002, and their agricultural use was banned in China from January 1st 2007.
