US emergency use of DuPont insecticide
Date:09-10-2008
The US EPA has established temporary tolerances for DuPont’s insecticide, Coragen (chlorantraniliprole), on sweetcorn in association with emergency exemptions in Illinois and Minnesota. State authorities requested the exemptions to allow the insecticide to be used against corn earworms (Helicoverpa zea), which were not being adequately controlled by registered alternatives. The tolerances will expire on December 31st 2011. The EPA registered chlorantraniliprole, as Altacor and Coragen, for use on a range of fruit and vegetable crops this year.
