Australian OK for Bayer’s ethoxysulfuron
Date:09-08-2008
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has recommended the approval of Bayer CropScience’s herbicide, Hero (ethoxysulfuron), for the post-harvest control of nutgrass (Cyperus rotundus) in sugar cane. Ethoxysulfuron is mainly a rice herbicide, but also has applications in small-grain cereals, turf and sugar cane. It was launched in Vietnam and South Africa in 1996 and has since been introduced elsewhere in Asia, Europe and Latin America. Ethoxysulfuron was put forward as a new active ingredient in Australia in 2005. The latest APVMA decision is open to public comment until September 30th.
