Date:08-20-2008
Chinese agrochemical company Hebei Veyong Bio-chemical’s 200 tonne/year production facility of the insecticide, abamectin, has passed an environmental inspection in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. All companies that produce industrial effluents in the area are required to undergo inspection by the Ordos city soil and water conservation department. Hebei Veyong Bio-chemical has invested Yuan 450 million ($65.6 million at current rate) in creating what will allegedly be “the world’s largest” abamectin production line, with a production capacity of 600 tonnes/year. The project is divided into three phases: phase one (100 tonnes/year), completed in 2005, phase two (200 tonnes/year), on which work started in 2007, and phase three (300 tonnes/year) by 2010. Upon completion of phase three, the company expects the project to generate sales of Yuan 650 million ($94.8 million).
