Vietnamese pesticide imports rise sharply

Vietnamese pesticide imports reached a total value of $246 million in the first five months of this year, an increase of 55.6% year-on-year, reports the national newspaper, the AgriGoods Herald. It cites statistics released by the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture. In May, Vietnam’s pesticide imports were worth more than $51 million. The country’s pesticides are primarily imported from China, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Germany and Taiwan. China is the largest supplier of pesticides to Vietnam, with exports worth $114 million in the first five months of the year, followed by Singapore ($43.2 million) and India ($19.7 million).
