Bayer CropScience Canada launches VARRO herbicide
Date:12-09-2011
Bayer CropScience continues to address wheat growers’ needs with the introduction of its latest innovation for the 2012 growing season. Varro™ herbicide (active ingredient: thiencarbazone-methyl) is a new Group 2 graminicide that offers an alternative mode of action to help manage Group 1 resistant wild oats.
"We have listened and responded to growers by bringing a new product to market – one that provides a solution to many of the weed problems they face each season,” says Lauren Davis, Cereal Grass Herbicide Manager at Bayer CropScience. “With Varro, growers can now battle Group 1 resistant wild oats and be able to plant a pulse crop the following year, which is an important option to have, especially for our customers in the brown soil zones.”
Varro herbicide:
• provides strong performance of grassy and select broadleaf weeds
• is a Group 2 that allows crop rotation flexibility
• can be tank-mixed with many broadleaf herbicides like Buctril® M and Thumper® to target specific weeds
• provides excellent crop safety on wheat
"Wheat growers now have access to a Group 2 grassy weed control solution that offers more wild oat control options in the face of serious Group 1 resistance concerns,” says Davis. “Moving forward, we will continue to look for ways to bring innovative solutions to better serve growers.”
Varro is available for booking at local retailers.
