More than 11 percent of vegetables and 15 percent of fruits sold in Vietnam have higher levels of pesticide than allowed by the Vietnam Food Administration, the agency has said.
The agency said recently it found pesticide residues in 63 out of 511 samples of vegetables and fruits from wholesale markets, supermarkets and farms in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The VFA has told authorities in the cities to strengthen oversight of pesticide used by farmers.
