Brazilian bioinputs company Biotrop is constructing its second factory for the production of biological inputs.
According to AgroPages, the company is investing approximately BRL50 million (approximately US$8.5 million) in this project. The new Advanced Microorganism Multiplication Center (CAMMs) is expected to be operational and produce biological fungicides later this year.
Biotrop already produces bio fungicides at another manufacturing unit in the same municipality of Jagariúna, in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The new plant, however, will operate with a different production method, which, according to the manufacturer, will allow for greater efficiency and speed in product formulation.
This new investment by the Brazilian biological technologies company follows a BRL100 million investment made last year. In 2024, Biotrop built two microorganism multiplication centers at its São Paulo unit and in Curitiba, the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná.

A leading producer of bioinputs in Brazil, Biotrop expects to close this year with BRL754 million in gross sales, a 21% growth compared to last year. For 2025, company president Antonio Carlos Zem estimates that gross sales will grow by 25%.
According to the executive, this projection already takes into account Biotrop's market expansion in the United States, where it has a research laboratory within the University of Florida. The Brazilian company is already working on prospecting North American clients and plans to build a factory in North America in 2026, focused on creating formulations geared towards the characteristics of agricultural production in that country.
Antonio Carlos Zem recalls that sales were quite restrained in Brazil until mid-2024. "From then on, we experienced an acceleration, including in December, which will allow us to invoice some purchases made until the end of the week for January, providing a margin of safety in the business," the president said.
"We have a great advantage in that Brazil is the world reference in biologicals and that biological inputs are not dollarized, remaining unaffected by the impact of the exchange rate," he argued. The rise of the dollar against the Brazilian Real should, according to the executive, help the competitiveness of the bioinputs segment, as it causes "a lot of pressure on the conventional fertilizer and pesticide industry."
