UPL announced the launch of its new herbicide Thunder during Show Rural Coopavel 2025, which AgroPages is covering in the Brazilian state of Paraná, Southern Brazil.
The new product announced at the agricultural fair is formulated with the novel molecule asulam and is in its final registration phase.
According to the manufacturer, Thunder is a systemic herbicide for pre-planting and pre-emergence application in soybeans. It targets the control of weeds such as goosegrass (Eleusine indica), fleabane (Conyza bonariensis), and sourgrass (Digitaria insularis), among others. Rafael Rovêa, UPL's herbicide marketing manager, reported that the product showed "excellent selectivity" when applied up to five days before soybean planting.
With this launch, UPL stated it begins the Brazilian agribusiness trade show circuit "reaffirming its commitment to research, development, and provision of innovative inputs for real problems faced by farmers." The Indian-origin company brought a comprehensive and interactive booth called "Solutions House" to Show Rural Coopavel.
Rogério Castro, CEO of UPL Brazil, stated: "At this important event, alongside a relevant regional partner, we show visitors our broad portfolio of innovative and proven effective solutions for various phytosanitary challenges. This is the result of the constant investment that UPL has made in the country – and worldwide – to maximize the already robust research and development structure, which always focuses on generating knowledge and products strictly aligned with our customers' needs."
No less than 11 products for the entire soybean cycle are being highlighted: the physioactivators Biozyme, Foltron Plus, and K-fol; the fungicides Evolution and Tridium; the herbicide Kennox; the insecticides Feroce and Sperto; the microbiological insecticide Tackler; and the seed treatment Vitavax Ultra.
Completing the list is the bionematicide Nimaxxa, one of UPL's most important launches in recent years. The company developed this solution to combat nematodes and has the additional advantage of a two-year shelf life without refrigeration – representing a technological advancement in biosolutions.
"The technical team was present at the booth throughout the event to disseminate information and even show farmers some experiments. This includes field demonstrations of three new UPL solutions that will soon reach the market: a fungicide, a herbicide, and an insecticide. It was an exclusive experience for fair visitors," Caio Azevedo, UPL's market development consultant in the region, said in conclusion.
