A few days ago, the annual 30,000-ton glycine project based on acrylonitrile’s by-product hydrocyanic acid, owned by Tianjin Tiancheng New Materials Co., Ltd, located in Nangang Industrial Zone, Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone, was successfully completed and accepted, with issuance of the completion acceptance certificate.
The project is invested and built jointly Hebei Chengxin Group Co., Ltd and Tianjin Branch of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, with a total investment of RMB700 million yuan, utilizing the chemical resources and experiences of Sinopec Tianjin Branch, in combination with the technical research and development capabilities of Hebei Chengxin Group. The scope of the project includes annual 100,000-ton aldehyde plant, annual 56,000-ton hydroxynitrile plant and 130,000-ton glycine plant. Upon completion and operation, the project will use hydrocyanic acid, a by-product from Nangang’s annual 1.2-million-ton ethylene project, as raw materials to establish a complete hydrogen cyanide chemical industry chain to produce industrial-grade and food-grade glycine products for supply to market at home and abroad.
Moreover, the project has the advantage of ″cross-wall″ supply between the Sinopec ethylene project and itself, thus reducing transportation cost by handling raw materials within the adjacent area of the project, which further enhances the competitiveness of production. The smooth progress of the project not only promotes the development of Tianjin’s local fine chemical industry, but also helps Nangang Chemical Industry Park build up a circular economy-based industry chain, which becomes a new highlight of local economy.
