US EPA analyses Scotts' illegal products
Date:06-16-2008
An investigation by the US EPA and the Ohio Department of Agriculture concludes that two unregistered garden pesticides sold by Scotts Miracle-Gro (Marysville, Ohio) contained components typically found in other “weed and feed” products. The EPA ordered the company to recall the products in April. The analysis found that the products contained the herbicides, trifluralin and prodiamine, along with traces of the herbicide, 2,4-D, and the insecticides, carbaryl and thiamethoxam. The products should not be harmful if used according to label instructions, the EPA notes.
