The Gene Technology Regulator is assessing an application from CSIRO to conduct a field trial of canola genetically modified for increased abiotic stress tolerance. The trial is proposed to take place at up to 3 sites with a total area of up to 6 ha per year over 6 years. Sites will be in New South Wales and South Australia. The plants grown in this field trial would not be used for human food or animal feed.
The Regulator has prepared a Risk Assessment and Risk Management Plan (RARMP) for this application and welcomes written submissions relating to the protection of human health and safety and the environment prior to making a decision on whether to issue the licence. Submissions should reference DIR 205 and be received by 23 August 2024.
For more details on how to submit comments, visit the DIR 205 page on the OGTR website.
