The multinational crop protection company Albaugh unveiled several new additions to its growing portfolio aimed at Brazilian citrus farming.
The company highlighted a technical team that made up the Citrus Regional division, a department dedicated to addressing specific demands of the citrus sector, to provide information about these new solutions.
One of the new releases was the launch of the herbicide brand Azteca (sulfentrazone), which belongs to the pre-emergent class of systemic action. According to the manufacturer, the product is recommended for controlling weed plants in citrus, such as Amaranthus retroflexus, Bidens pilosa, Cenchrus echinatus, Commelina benghalensis, Cynodon dactylon, and Digitaria horizontalis.
Another herbicide launched for citrus was Joya (flumioxazin), a selective, non-systemic technology. Albaugh said the product was recommended for pre- and post-emergence applications to control weed plants. Joya included control of weeds such as Alternanthera tenella, Euphorbia heterophylla, Galinsoga parviflora, Ipomoea grandifolia, Portulaca oleracea, Sida rhombifolia, and Solanum americanum, among others.
In the insecticide segment, the major release was Ariete (bifenthrin), which acted through contact and ingestion. According to Albaugh, the product was indicated for pest control in citrus such as Brevipalpus phoenicis, Ecdytolopha aurantiana, Oncometopia facialis, Orthezia praelonga, and Panonychus citri.
"Albaugh continuously invests in the development of its citrus portfolio, which today comprises quality alternatives capable of meeting the main needs of producers in controlling mites, pests, diseases, and weeds," the company summarized.
According to them, "The company's manufacturing unit in Brazil has a high production capacity for synthesizing copper fungicides."
The 49th edition of Expocitros, held simultaneously with the 45th Week of Citriculture, is the largest citrus event in Latin America, gathering 7,000 visitors at the Sylvio Moreira Experimental Station, with AgroPages in attendance.
