Nigeria: government advised to partner media on malaria control

The Acting Executive Secretary, Bauchi State Agency for Control of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis/Leprosy and Malaria, ( BACATMA ),Dr Lawal Saidu Abubakar said wiping out malaria in the state depends on sensitization and public enlightenment.
He said if governments aim is to succeed in controlling the malaria in the state, it must partner the media to sensitize and create awareness to the public through their various medium"
He said "we create awareness and sensitization to communities on the used of Long lasting Treated Insecticide Net, LLIN , the use of ORS, drugs dosage , and the need to keep the environment clean, we use advocacy visit, visit to schools, media announcement, dramas and jingle . With all these awareness and public enlightenment the state will succeed in the fight against malaria menace in the state."
Abubakar also stated that, the agency has successfully sensitized traditional and religious leaders on strategies to be implemented on malaria prevention and control through the use of community resource persons at the grassroots.
