Bromoxynil use reviewed in Canada
Date:01-30-2008
The Canadian authorities have proposed the continued registration of the herbicide, bromoxynil, subject to certain label changes. They include a 24-hour restricted entry interval and buffer zones of 1 m for ground applications and up to 55 m for aerial sprays. Bromoxynil is registered for use on cereals and some other crops, such as linseed and alfalfa. Registrants include Bayer CropScience, Makhteshim-Agan Industries and Nufarm. All uses are being supported by the registrants, except for bromoxynil-tolerant canola. The evaluation by the Pest Management Regulatory Agency was based largely on the US EPA's 1998 re-registration eligibility decision.
