Today Bayer CropScience confirms that their TraitGuard program remains an important part of the Liberty® & Trait Agreement (LTA) and is available in 2011 to protect InVigor® hybrid canola and other LibertyLink® canola growers from early season crop establishment risk. Acres taken out of production or acres reseeded can qualify for the TraitGuard risk assurance program.
"The 2010 season was a good example of the importance of the TraitGuard program for growers faced with challenging weather conditions,” states Blaine Woycheshin, Manager of Oilseed Crops - Herbicides & Trait Agreement at Bayer CropScience. “It is vital to have a program available to growers in difficult situations so they are not penalized for conditions that are outside of their control.”
TraitGuard was introduced in 2010 with the Liberty & Trait Agreement (LTA). The number of TraitGuard claims in 2010 surpassed all expectations due to the record-breaking rainfalls experienced across the prairies this spring.
"We hope that the 2011 growing season will be more normal with better weather conditions,” says Blaine Woycheshin. “Either way, we will be there to support LibertyLink growers.”
The 2011 TraitGuard program will be similar to 2010 with a minimum claim of 40 acres. Growers must register their claim with the LTA Call Centre at 1-888-283-6847 by June 30, 2011. When calling in, growers need to have their LTA number and the legal land descriptions for the areas being claimed. As an added feature for the 2011 growing season, growers will be able to register their claims online. For more details on TraitGuard, please visit BayerCropScience.ca. Retails are not involved in the TraitGuard claim process.
