Monsanto Company (NYSE: MON) announced it has added an acetochlor premix formulation for pre-emerge and post-emerge use in corn to its corn herbicide portfolio. The product will be marketed as TripleFLEX™ Herbicide for the 2011 crop season and will broaden the company’s weed management portfolio.
“The ability to offer TripleFLEX is a positive step in our continued efforts to provide farmers with the choices to ensure multiple modes of action when it comes to weed management,” said Matt Helms, Monsanto Crop Protection Marketing Lead. “Our goal is to bring simplicity to weed control, and TripleFLEX will be an excellent addition to a portfolio that is designed to do just that. We see TripleFLEX providing growers the flexibility that fits directly into a Roundup Ready Corn system.”
Helms said TripleFLEX contains three modes of action, with a flexible window of application in one product. The product will control a broad spectrum of grasses as well as small and large seeded broadleaf weeds such as pigweed, lambsquarters, waterhemp, velvetleaf and ragweed species.
Monsanto recently announced a new approach for its crop protection business centered on a commitment to provide growers simple, effective and affordable weed management solutions. The company continues to explore technology and crop protection solutions that will help farmers manage tough and resistant weeds.
TripleFLEX will offer growers the performance and the weed control foundation they have come to expect with acetochlor or the Harness family of herbicides plus the addition of two other broadleaf active ingredients – flumetsulam and clopyralid.
“The current Harness products provide a good fit on many farms and by adding TripleFLEX to our portfolio, farmers will have an additional choice based on the weed spectrum on their farm,” Helms said. TripleFLEX will be available to retailers and growers for the 2011 season upon receipt of state registrations or approvals. It will be introduced for corn growing geographies of the United States.
