Mitsui Chemicals' agchem sales soar on Sankyo buy

The acquisition of Japanese agrochemical company Sankyo Agro resulted in a 144% increase in agrochemical sales for Mitsui Chemicals in the first half ended September 30th 2007. Interim agrochemical sales are not available. Mitsui recorded annual agrochemical sales of some ¥18,700 million ($160 million) in the year to March 31st 2007. Sankyo started operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui in April 2007. The Sankyo business was subsequently integrated with Mitsui's crop protection business in October.
