Rijk Zwaan Australia and AUSVEG sign strategic partnership
Date:11-07-2016
Seed company Rijk Zwaan Australia and industry body AUSVEG begin a collaboration to further improve the development of market oriented varieties for Australian vegetable growers.
The partnership agreement was officially signed today by representatives of Rijk Zwaan and AUSVEG in the presence of Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands, with Mr Henk Kamp, Minister of Economic Affairs representing a trade mission from the Netherlands.
Rijk Zwaan maintains a policy of short lines of communication between the breeder and the market and this strategic partnership with AUSVEG leverages the knowledge and capabilities of both organisations, facilitating better transfer of knowledge from breeder to grower and the market.
Steven Roberts, Managing Director of Rijk Zwaan Australia says: “Today Rijk Zwaan Australia is proud to sign a strategic partnership with AUSVEG. A clear and transparent dialogue from the seed at the beginning all the way through the vegetable production chain to the final product and the marketplace allows Rijk Zwaan to meet the needs of the market today, and innovate for the market of the tomorrow; sharing a healthy future with the Australian vegetable industry.”
The partnership agreement was signed by Steven Roberts, Jan Omvlee (Director, Rijk Zwaan Export), Geoff Moar (Chairman, AUSVEG) and Nathan McIntyre (Marketing Manager, AUSVEG). The trade mission celebrates the 400 anniversary of the landing of Dirk Hartog in Western Australia, and the long-standing ties between the two nations since.
