USDA extends deregulation to Syngenta’s GM corn MZHG0JG
Date:12-03-2015
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) preliminarily determined that it will extend deregulation to a line of genetically engineered (GE) corn variety designated as MZHG0JG developed by Syngenta Seeds, Inc.(Syngenta), that is resistant to the herbicides glyphosate and glufosinate. APHIS previously reviewed and deregulated this GE trait in other GE corn plants. APHIS prepared a draft environmental assessment, preliminary finding of no significant impact (FONSI) and a preliminary determination of nonregulated status that was available for a 30-day public review and comment period from October 27, 2015, to November 27, 2015.
On December 2, 2015, USDA APHIS announced an extension of a determination of nonregulated status to Syngenta's MZHG0JG GE corn line that is resistant to the herbicides glyphosate and glufosinate.
