Argentina's soybean crop is nearly half in the ground. As of late November, 45% of the estimated 16.6 million hectares (Ha) have been planted. The provinces of Buenos Aires, Cordoba, and Santa Fe (which combined represent about 75% of Argentina's soybean area) are 56%, 45%, and 60% completed, respectively.
The Buenos Aires Grains Exchange reported on Nov. 23 that seeding is advancing with some interruptions due to a general lack of moisture. Recent frosts actually had the effect of increasing the soybean area in some regions, as some plots in the most affected areas of the country initially planted to corn will be re-planted with soybeans, as well as some destroyed wheat plots.
