Mitsui & Co sees European agrochemical growth in first half

Expanded agrochemical sales in Europe contributed to higher gross profits for Japanese trading company Mitsui & Cos chemicals division in the first half ended September 30th 2007. In a breakdown of figures for the 12 months to September 30th 2007, the company records an increase of 28.6% in net income in Europe to ¥900 million ($7.5 million) for Mitsui Agri Science International (MASI). MASI handles the European agrochemical business and includes Certis Europe. In 2007, Certis acquired certain horticultural assets of Dutch agrochemical company Luxan.
