First TYLCV (Tomato yellow leaf curl virus) incidence in the Netherlands
Date:11-30-2007
Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) has hit Dutch crops for the first time, according to the International Society for Infectious Diseases. It has infected some 3-20 plants each of a small number of companies. These companies have to remove or destroy the infected plants and use insecticides against the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) vectors of the disease, the Ministry of Agriculture's plant protection service says. The source of the outbreak remains unidentified.
