Belgian crop protection company Belchim has announced to acquire all the rights and assets of Italian company Isem’s fungicides, valifenalate and IR 8854. Isme is a 50:50 joint venture established between Chemtura Netherlands and Isagro.
Valifenalate is a systemic fungicide belonging to the chemical class of dipeptides, with activity against
Oomycetes.
The sale, which includes IR8854, a new active ingredient in early development stage bringing potential synergies to Valifenalate, is consistent with the revision of the business strategy pursued by the two partners, Chemtura and Isagro, in order to refocus resources towards projects carrying greater strategic value for them, with the aim of optimizing their portfolios.
