The European Commission has proposed to approve two active ingredients for used as biocide. Hydrogen cyanide has been evaluated for use as wood preservative, rodenticide and insecticide/caricide. Member States are required to ensure the authorisations of hdrogen cyanide shall only be supplied to and used by professionals when it used as use a fumigant and safe operational procedures during fumigation and venting shall be established for operators and bystanders. Cis-Tricos-9-ene has been evaluated for used as repellents and attractants. The Commission requires that Member States should ensure that appropriate measures are taken or specific conditions imposed in order to reduce the identified risks to acceptable levels when granting product authorizations. For products containing cis-tricos-9-ene that may lead to residues in food or feed, Member States shall verify the need to set new or to amend existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) and take any appropriate risk mitigation measures ensuring that the applicable MRLs are not exceeded."
