Thailand imported 67,895 tonnes of pesticides in 2007, a significant increase on the 53,050 tonnes imported in 2004, and the 25,542 tonnes imported in 1996, citing data provided by the Thailand Ministry of Agriculture. Some 50,175 tonnes (74%) of imported pesticides were herbicides, while 8,609 tonnes (13%) were insecticides and 6,608 tonnes (10%) were fungicides. The FVO notes that since 2004, the increase in volume has mainly been caused by an increase in imported herbicides.
