The California Department of Pesticide Regulation has approved Rimon 0.83EC for insect control on sweet corn in California.
Rimon, which is distributed by Chemtura AgroSolutions, provides control of many key insects including armyworms, corn earworms, European corn borers, foliage feeding caterpillars, and grasshoppers. See the label for a full list of insects.
"Rimon is a highly effective tool for sweet corn growers because of its unique ovicidal activity,” said Mike Snyder, marketing manager for Chemtura AgroSolutions, North America. "Rimon’s unique mode of action targets both eggs and larvae, stopping pests before they are a problem.”
Novaluron, the active ingredient in Rimon, is a chitin inhibitor that interferes with the development and successful molting of target insects. Rimon is ideal for early applications where the majority of the population is at egg hatch to early instars. It is also rainfast on plant tissue, has low impact on beneficial insects, and does not flare mites or other pests.
