The Australian citrus industry is reported to call for fungicide resistance as it is unceasingly growing taking the form of a menace.

The fungus makes oranges to develop a blue mould over time, signifying that the fruit is subsequently rejected when received at export markets.

Dr. Peter Taverner, from the South Australian Research and Development Institute, is reported to conduct study to develop more fungicides in Australia.

He says that theyre already is use in places including Japan and the US in a bid to prevent the growth of unappetizing fungus.

"We dont have the resistance issues that have occurred overseas, because I think to some degree, our packers have been a little bit more on the ball," he quoted.

In addition, he believes that it is a sort of a creeping menace that can occur and now there is an opportunity to add further things in to try and combat against small problems that might crop up.
