Yara, a global leader in crop nutrition solutions, has inaugurated a new solid fertilizer coating unit in Argentina, in collaboration with its distributor Agronort.

The technology is considered "innovative" and allows granular fertilizers to be coated with essential micronutrients, such as zinc, in a segment that typically focuses on macronutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus.

This is possible thanks to specially developed formulations that strongly adhere to the granules without affecting their physical quality. Another innovation is that Yara's technology allows granular fertilizers to be coated with biostimulants in addition to micronutrients.

According to the multinational company, incorporating essential micronutrients into granular fertilizer facilitates the supplementation of critical nutrients, which are increasingly showing deficiencies.

With this initiative, Yara stated it is seeking an "alternative to differentiate itself" in the traditional fertilizer market. Yara emphasized that offering this coating technology reinforces its commitment to "promoting efficient and sustainable agriculture."

Juan Ignacio Holtz, Yara.png"With the launch of this plant, we reaffirm our leadership position in fertilizers. We want to provide producers with tools that help them increase the productivity of their crops, always focusing on sustainability and balanced nutrition," said Juan Ignacio Holtz, Yara's Sales Manager for the Southern Region of Argentina.

The unit is already operational at Agronort's operations center, which the partners say "reaffirms the strategic alliance between the two companies."

Agronort, an official distributor of Yara and other agricultural inputs for 30 years, is located in the heart of Argentina's agricultural zone, including the towns of Pergamino, Rojas, Salto, Colón, among others. The company has a processing plant with a capacity of 62 million tons, in addition to an 8,000 cubic meter warehouse for storing inputs. It also includes sheds specially equipped for the storage of seeds, fertilizers, and inoculants.
