2025 China Pesticide Company Directory: Over 1500 Products and 350 Major Global Registrations, Charting China’s Path to the World

In AgroPages’ annual issue of China Pesticide Industry Watch that published in every February, AgroPages consistently showcases outstanding Chinese pesticide suppliers, highlighting China’s capability to provide global agriculture with pesticide products and solutions, and facilitating convenient product sourcing for global buyers.

The latest 2025 issue of China Pesticide Industry Watch presents an updated version of the China Pesticide Company Directory. This year, we invited companies to submit their most valuable globally registered products to showcase their achievements in overseas market expansion.

In this issue of the company directory, 83 companies submitted product information, including 708 technical products and 814 formulated products. Although the number of companies is slightly fewer than last year’s 91, the number of products submitted has increased.

Among all the technical products, herbicides account for 261, over one-third of the total. The other main categories include 139 fungicides, 135 insecticides, and 24 plant growth regulators.

The top 20 most frequently submitted active ingredients by suppliers are shown in the figure below, totaling 185 products, accounting for 26% of all technical products, indicating a certain degree of supply concentration. The products with the highest supply concentration include Glyphosate, Chlorantraniliprole, Azoxystrobin, and Glufosinate-ammonium, which are bulk varieties where Chinese enterprises have traditional supply advantages. In addition, there are varieties whose supply has expanded rapidly in recent years, such as Prothioconazole and Pyroxasulfone.

For years, Chinese pesticide companies have been committed to developing off-patent products. In recent years, with a growing awareness of innovation, the companies have increased their investment in the independent development of new compounds. In this year’s product submission, 15 products are those with patents expiring after 2023. Notably, over half of these, namely 9 products, were independently developed by Chinese companies, including Udragon, CAC Group, and KingAgroot (the orange part in the figure indicates independently developed products). This achievement clearly demonstrates the progress made by Chinese pesticide companies in technological innovation and independent R&D capabilities.

The 15 submitted TCs with patents expire after 2023

In this directory, we asked companies to select their most valuable products from their global registration portfolios. Compared to last year’s newly registered products, this approach provides a more intuitive and accurate reflection of the core products that Chinese pesticide companies are promoting in the global market. A total of 53 companies submitted 369 global registration entries, including both technical products and formulated products, covering 39 countries and regions (some companies submitted entries for specific regions, and the actual descriptions provided by the companies were used).

In terms of registration countries, Brazil, the global largest agricultural markets and the EU region attract many companies to register their products due to large market capacity and high value. Australia, Argentina, Ukraine follow as the next most concentrated markets for product registration.

Examining the product categories submitted by companies, the concentration of products is even more pronounced. Among the top 20 active ingredients in terms of registration numbers, there are 176 registrations, accounting for one-third of the total.

For new products whose patents expired after 2023, overseas registrations involve three active ingredients: Bixafen, Fluopyram, and Fluxapyroxad. These are held by four companies. Chinese companies have registered three independently developed products, all of which are KingAgroot 's registrations in Southeast Asia.
