UPL has announced to AgroPages the launch of Propose, a systemic and translaminar insecticide designed for the management of caterpillars, as well as the control of thrips and red spider mites.
The new product is formulated with the active ingredients Chlorantraniliprole + Chlorfenapyr in Suspension Concentrate (SC).
According to the Indian multinational, the product boasts "high efficiency" and enters the market with registration for soybeans, cotton, corn, and millet, among other crops. "Propose can be used flexibly, both by ground application and aerial application – including drones – according to local regulations," UPL informed.
The new insecticide is registered to control, in various crops, red spider mites (Tetranychus urticae), leafworm caterpillars (Spodoptera eridania), fall armyworm or armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), soybean looper (Chrysodeixis includens), and thrips (Frankliniella schultzei).

According to the manufacturer, another benefit of the product is its strong residual activity, which ensures immediate and long-lasting protection for plants under various adverse conditions. Its translocation occurs in two ways: through the xylem – the plant tissue responsible for transporting water and nutrients – ensuring protection for the plant's newer structures, and translaminar, providing protection even to the underside of leaves.
Carlos Melo, Insecticide Manager at UPL Brazil, explained: "After years of testing and research, UPL presents Propose, the insecticide that will revolutionize caterpillar control. With its powerful formulation, combining the action of two reference active ingredients for controlling these pests, it delivers both immediate impact and residual effect in one application, preserving crop productivity."
Rogério Castro, CEO of UPL Brazil, stated that the presence of caterpillars in crops is a high-risk factor for productivity, with the potential to cause severe damage to leaf structure, flowers, and developing fruits, negatively impacting plant performance.
"Concerned about this, we at UPL Corp Brazil are pleased to announce the launch of Propose, an insecticide that will revolutionize caterpillar control. With a powerful formulation that combines the action of two reference active ingredients for controlling these pests, it delivers both immediate impact and residual effect in one application, preserving crop productivity while also controlling thrips and red spider mites," the CEO of UPL Brazil said.
"The research, development, and innovation work we have conducted in the country has resulted in this product that enhances the outcomes of crops that are extremely important to agribusiness. By ensuring that target pests do not reach levels that cause financial losses, we reinforce our commitment to providing solutions that assist rural producers in their challenges," Castro said in conclusion.
