PI Industries and C-CAMP announce strategic partnership to drive innovation in biocontrol technologies

PI Industries Ltd. (PI), a leading player in Agri Sciences, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Centre for Cellular And Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), an initiative of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. Under this partnership, C-CAMP has successfully transferred two breakthrough biocontrol technologies to PI on an exclusive basis. These cutting-edge solutions, AphidControl and XanthoControl, are set to revolutionise pest and disease management in agriculture by providing environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional chemical pesticides.

• AphidControl is a botanical insecticide designed to combat aphids, a major pest responsible for yield losses of up to 60% across various crops. This innovation can potentially benefit over 25 million farmers.

• XanthoControl is a biocontrol agent targeting Xanthomonas species, a pathogen responsible for significant crop diseases leading to yield losses of up to 80%. This technology has the potential to support over 45 million farmers fighting this menace.

This partnership is a significant step in PI’s broader strategy to expand its presence in the biological sector. The company has consistently grown its portfolio, with biological products registering 45% revenue growth over the last two years.
