Syngenta announced the launch of its YieldOn biostimulant during Show Rural 2025 this week in the Brazilian state of Paraná.
According to the manufacturer, the new biological product can increase the productivity of major crops by modulating metabolism, cell division, and expansion, improving sugar and nutrient transport, and lipid biosynthesis.
The multinational claimed that the "revolutionary" YieldOn combines the most innovative technologies, such as genomics, phenomics, and next-generation genetic sequencing. "It is the ideal product for increasing major crop productivity naturally while fully respecting plant physiology. The result is an optimal return on investment for farmers," Syngenta stated.
According to the manufacturer, an integrated approach of "field studies and omics" was used to characterize YieldOn's physiological effect using different plants (Arabidopsis thaliana, corn, and soybeans). More than 65% of the composition on a dry basis is characterized by a selection of extracts from three distinct families of plants and algae enriched with micronutrients: Mn, Zn, and Mo.
"Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) allowed us to detect expressed genes related to increased plant productivity directly in corn and soybeans. Thanks to this technology, we can explain YieldOn's mode of action in molecular terms: Better sugar and nutrient transport; Promotion of cell division for heavier seeds; and Transport and biosynthesis of fatty acids," the multinational said.
According to Syngenta, plants treated with YieldOn were compared to untreated control plants using next-generation gene sequencing (NGS). "This resulted in the identification of 949 differentially expressed genes for corn and 134 for soybeans. These differently expressed genes are also found in other crops of interest," the company stated.
In addition to launching YieldOn, Syngenta reinforced its commitment to biological inputs during Show Rural by highlighting solutions such as MEGAFOL, the bioactivator based on plant and algae extracts. This bioinput stands out for its triple action: mitigation of abiotic stresses, acceleration of plant recovery, and metabolism activation for better vegetative development. The solution is especially effective when crops face water deficit, flooding, temperature fluctuations, cloudiness, salinity, and chemical stress (phytotoxicity).
Demonstrating its expertise in integrated seed treatment solutions, Syngenta highlighted AVICTA COMPLETO® technology, focused on soybeans, and CRUISER® ADVANCED, focused on corn, along with the biological seed treatment ARVATICO® for soybeans, corn, and cotton. Additionally, RIZOLIQ® LLI, an inoculant for biological nitrogen fixation in soybeans, allows for advanced seed treatment for 60 days alongside the latest-generation fungicides and insecticides.
Recent research released by CropLife Brazil shows that the bioinput market grew 15% in the 2023/2024 crop season compared to the previous one. The study also demonstrated that over the last three years, the segment has evolved at an average annual rate of 21%, four times above the global average. This reinforced the fact that the biological market in Brazil is in a moment of accelerated expansion, reflecting Brazilian farmers' openness to the combined use of chemical and biological technologies, targeting productivity and sustainability.
This growing openness to biological products reinforces the strategy behind the creation of Syngenta Biologicals, which was announced in 2024 to expand our operations for increasingly profitable, sustainable, and effective agriculture.
"Beyond being a leader in agricultural technologies, we have become a reference at industry trade shows, creatively presenting innovations developed to help farmers overcome difficulties faced in various crops. This is because Syngenta is truly committed to the goal of expanding national agricultural production and making it even more efficient, profitable, and sustainable, even under adverse conditions such as those being faced this season," said André Savino, President of Syngenta Crop Protection Brazil.
Carlos Hentschke, President of Syngenta Seeds Brazil and Paraguay, explained that the company begins its participation in the 2025 trade show calendar by "reinforcing the purpose of positioning farmers at the center of our decisions, promoting integration, commercial excellence, and customized solutions for the characteristic challenges of the seed business. With innovation as part of our DNA, we remain guided by proximity to our customers, alongside whom we always want to achieve higher and more promising flights."
