In today's era of sustainable agriculture, more growers are turning to innovative solutions like biopesticides, biostimulants, and biofertilizers. Let us hear these voices from the fields across different countries.

The 6th Biopesticides, Biostimulants and Biofertilizers Summit (BioEx 2025) will be held on March 13-14 2025 in Shanghai. To date, agricultural companies, distributors, and importers from 24 countries and regions have confirmed their participation, including Germany, Thailand, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Belgium, Brazil, Kenya, Ethiopia, Russia, Japan, Indonesia, USA, Malaysia, Ecuador, Peru, Ukraine, Bangladesh, UK, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, India, and China.

Recently, we interviewed some delegates and asked them to share their views on the following questions:

  • Which crops need biological solutions most under their local climate conditions?

  • What urgent challenges do these crops face?

Their responses revealed both common needs and regional characteristics in the global agricultural biological market.

Three Common Challenges Faced by Global Growers

■ Chemical Residue Concerns in Export Agricultural Products

"Export destinations are implementing increasingly strict regulations on chemical residues," says an Argentine representative discussing their pears, apples, and nectarine crops. "We urgently need viable alternatives for pest and disease control, as well as for improving yield and product quality - both in the field and during post-harvest."

■  New Challenges from Extreme Climate

"Water scarcity and climate variability are forcing us to seek solutions that enhance crop stress resistance," says a Mexican company focusing on tomatoes, berries, and avocados. This concern echoes in Malaysia, where local farmers are dealing with the impact of extreme weather on crops.

■  Soil Health and Post-harvest Management

Indonesia's largest tropical fruit company, Great Giant Foods, reveals their two major concerns: "Continuously declining soil productivity and post-harvest shelf life are major challenges. These affect multiple crops from pineapples to bananas, from guava to cavendish bananas."

Regional Demands for Specialty Crops

■  Southeast Asia: Protecting Tropical Crops

Malaysia's needs focus on disease control: "Ganoderma in oil palm, bacterial diseases in rice, canker and leaf blight in durian - these are issues we must resolve."

■  South America: Comprehensive Needs from Field to Orchard

  • Peru: Coastal avocado, grape, and blueberry growers seeking soil improvement solutions

  • Ecuador: Fusarium TR4 in bananas becoming the primary control target

  • Argentina: Strong demand for nitrogen fixation and plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria in soybean and wheat crops

■  Africa: Innovative Crop Protection Needs

A Kenyan agricultural consultant lists their most urgent issues: "From thrips to codling moth pest control, from botrytis to powdery mildew disease management, we need more biological pesticide options."

■  North America: Wide Application of Biological Products

"We're particularly interested in biological fungicides and insecticides," says an US enterprise representative. "Not just for fruits and vegetables, but we're also exploring their application in field crops."

Seeking Innovative Solutions

The 6th Biopesticides, Biostimulants and Biofertilizers Summit (BioEx 2025) will focus on addressing these practical needs from the field. We invite global innovators to share:

  • Novel biopesticide solutions

  • Soil health management technologies

  • Post-harvest management innovations

  • New crop stress management technologies

Join us this March to discuss these challenges in agriculture and find the most appropriate biological solutions.
