Zhongda Agritech Launches New Acaricide ″ZDC Sound″ for Resistant Mite Control

ZDC’s new acaricide product, ″ZDC Sound″ 40% Cyflumetofen·Bifenazate SC (15% Cyflumetofen + 25% Bifenazate), has obtained pesticide registration (PD20242109) from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China. This product is registered for controlling red mites on citrus trees, effectively addressing challenges in managing resistant mite populations.  

Key Features of ″ZDC Sound″

Cyflumetofen, a novel acyl acetonitrile acaricide, demonstrates high selectivity against all life stages of Tetranychidae mites. It acts rapidly with long-lasting efficacy, exhibits minimal impact on non-target organisms, and is environmentally friendly. Its unique mode of action ensures no cross-resistance with existing insecticides or acaricides, making it ideal for integrated pest management (IPM).  

Bifenazate, a contact carbazole acaricide, offers broad-spectrum control, rapid knockdown, and stability under varying environmental conditions, e.g., light, heat, rain. It effectively reduces mite populations by targeting both eggs and adults while preserving beneficial insects and natural predators.  

The synergistic combination of these two active ingredients enhances efficacy across all mite developmental stages, improves resistance management, and reduces application rates of single ingredient. This dual-action formula ensures superior control of citrus red mites and other resistant mites.

Field Trials  

Case 1: 

Location: Sichuan - Meishan 

Time: Aug. 26 – Sep. 15, 2023

Targets: Citrus (Ai yuan) – Red mites

Application: Apply ″ZDC Sound″ by 2000-fold dilution to detect its performance on acaricidal quickness and persistence.

Conclusion: 

1. Application by 2000-fold dilution at low mite density resulted in > 90% mortality.  

2. Application by 2000-fold dilution at high-density population with multiple generations resulted in > 80% mortality; it’s recommended to use in combination programs.  

Case 2:

Location: Guangxi - Nanning 

Time: Mar. 11 – Apr. 10, 2024

Targets: Citrus (Orah) – Red mites

Application: Apply ″ZDC Sound″ by 2000-fold dilution.

Conclusion: ″ZDC Sound″ acted rapidly on Orah and Sugar orange red mites. Mites paralyzed within 1 hour; complete mortality observed within 24 hours.  

Case 3: 

Location: Yunnan - Tonghai 

Time: May 11 – May 16, 2024

Targets: Rose - Two-spotted mite

Conclusion: ″ZDC Sound″ exhibits excel rapid effect on rose two-spotted mite at 2000-fold dilution. 95% population decline with long effective duration was observed. Enhanced results will be obtained when applied along with ovicidal pesticide.  

Case 4: 

Location: Fujian – Zhangzhou 

Time: Dec. 5 – Dec. 31, 2024

Targets: Strawberry – Two-spotted mite  

Conclusion: 

1. Safety: Applied by 1500-fold dilution on strawberry at harvesting stage when flower and fruit coexisting, ″ZDC Sound″ showed no phytotoxicity to crops.  

2. Performance: Adult mites on strawberry dehydrated to death within 24 hours.
