The average price of pesticides in the Brazilian market declined by seven percentage points over the last twelve months, considering the period between January and December of last year.
This data comes from the Agrindexes™ report, a new product from market intelligence agency Kynetec.
According to the same indicator, this decline reached eight percentage points in Brazil's North and Southeast regions. The result was, therefore, slightly higher than the overall Brazilian average.
Although the twelve-month cumulative figure indicates price reductions, the recent trend shows recovery, according to Kynetec. In the last four months, between September and December 2024, the average price of pesticides increased by 2.8 percentage points.
Lucas Alves, a research specialist at Kynetec, told AgroPages that Agrindexes™ is Kynetec's new solution in Brazil, developed by cross-referencing Kynetec's two main studies:
FarmTrak™ – An annual survey aimed at understanding agricultural input consumption dynamics, monitoring management indicators, and market share scenarios for companies, products, and active ingredients with farmers. The study covers more than 20 crops, annually visiting over 15,000 farmers
PriceTrak™ – Monthly monitoring of prices in the input market, currently counting more than 6,500 points of sale as information sources. The study currently monitors over 500 commercial brands, representing more than 70% of the pesticide market.
The combination of these two tools enabled the creation of Agrindexes™ (a weighted price variation indicator), which considers the relevance of each commercial brand and individual price variations and functions as an inflation indicator for the segment.
"The index allows partners to monitor monthly price variations in the national market, offering detailed information at the level of regions, crops, product categories, and companies. Soon, Kynetec will also offer this indicator for the seed segment," Lucas Alves said in conclusion.
