Tamil Nadu-based Garuda Aerospace, a leader in drone technology, has reached a remarkable milestone with its Agri-drones completing 10 lakh hours of flight time within a year.

This feat is driven by the consistent operation of over 2,000 drones, with one taking off every two minutes. The achievement underscores the growing role of drone technology in modernizing Indian agriculture.

Garuda’s  Agri Kisan Drones are reshaping farming practices by integrating advanced technologies like precision sensors and GPS guidance. These drones enable Precision Agriculture, which means targeted spray pesticides, fertilizers, and nutrients to optimize usage and reduce waste. The company’s technology is also promoting environmentally friendly practices while ensuring safer working conditions for farmers.

Real-time monitoring is another aspect that Garuda’s technology is focused on. This includes early detection of pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies through continuous crop surveillance. Data-driven decision-making provides insights on planting, harvesting, and resource allocation using analytics.

Empowering Farmers Through Technology

Garuda Aerospace is committed to equipping farmers with the knowledge and tools to maximize the benefits of drone technology. Its initiatives include:

  • Training Programs: A ‘Train the Trainer’ model to create skilled operators capable of managing and maintaining drones independently.

  • Affordability and Accessibility: Collaboration with financial institutions to provide subsidized financing options, enabling more farmers to adopt drones.

Here it should be noted that the company also aligns with government programs like the sub-mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) and the NAMO Drone Didi Program to expand its reach. With six DGCA approvals and strategic plans for global expansion into Asia and Australia, Garuda Aerospace aims to empower a larger agricultural community.

Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace, highlighted the company’s broader vision saying: ″Our achievement of 10 lakh hours of agricultural drone operations is a testament to our dedication to revolutionising Indian agriculture. We are deeply committed to providing innovative, accessible solutions for every farmer, and this milestone reflects the progress we’re making in transforming India’s agricultural landscape for a sustainable future. Garuda’s vision is to make drone technology as ubiquitous as tractors, revolutionising Indian agriculture and positioning India as a global leader in sustainable farming practices.″

Rithika Mohan, Co-founder of Garuda Aerospace, said: ″Our Agri Kisan Drone represents a new era for Indian agriculture. By bringing affordable, accessible, and powerful technology to every farmer, we’re transforming the traditional farming model and helping make Indian agriculture sustainable and resilient.″

Investments in innovation, partnerships, and diversified products will further enhance the accessibility and impact of its technology, strengthening India’s agricultural resilience.
