ANDA (National Association for the Diffusion of Fertilizers) revealed that fertilizer deliveries to the market closed in August 2024 with 5.13 million tons, according to information sent exclusively to AgroPages.
This represented a 7% reduction compared to 5.51 million tons in the same month of 2023.
Cumulatively, 28.03 million tons were delivered from January to August, a 2% drop from the same period last year, when the total was 28.61 million tons.
The Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, the leader in market deliveries, concentrated the most significant volume in the analyzed period (21.2%), reaching 5.95 million tons. This was followed by Paraná (3.32 million), São Paulo (3.10 million), Rio Grande do Sul (2.90 million), Goiás (2.67 million), Minas Gerais (2.49 million), and Bahia (2.07 million tons).
The domestic production of intermediate fertilizers closed in August 2024 at 626,000 tons, representing a 2.5% growth. The cumulative total from January to August was 4.29 million tons, down 1.6% compared to the same period in 2023, when 4.37 million tons were produced.
Imports of intermediate fertilizers reached 4.32 million tons in August 2024, indicating a 32.5% increase. Cumulatively, from January to August, the total imported was 24.83 million tons, an increase of 5.1% compared to the 23.61 million tons in the same period of 2023.
According to data from the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services, 6.36 million tons of fertilizers were imported through the port of Paranaguá, the main entry point for fertilizers (25% of the total for all terminals). This was a 10% increase compared to 2023 when 5.78 million tons were unloaded.
