The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has cancelled the registrations of products based on the insecticide/acaricide, bifenthrin, in small pack sizes for agricultural use. The APVMA is concerned that the packs could be used in the home and garden sector and pose health risks. Registrants of 80 g/litre and 100 g/litre formulations sold in 500 ml packs agreed to withdraw them from sale. No further registrations for such products will be granted. The action affects just seven out of more than 100 bifenthrin-based products, the APVMA points out.
