FMC announced two significant launches during the 14th Brazilian Cotton Congress: the herbicides Azugro® and Ezanya®, which are also registered for use in tobacco and wheat crops.

The products contain Isoflex active, the commercial name for bixlozone, a new herbicide used in cereals. The molecule is classified by the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee (HRAC) as a Group 13 herbicide.

According to the manufacturer, both formulations offer farmers new tools to "effectively manage herbicide resistance in a wide range of agronomic practices." FMC pointed out that Azugro® offers "effective control of key annual weeds, including goosegrass (Eleusine indica) and some important broadleaf weeds, and will be available for use in cotton during the 2024 season."

Fábio Lemos.jpeg"FMC is a pioneer in providing solutions for cotton farming in Brazil and has always invested in services, technological innovations, and the development of new molecules and efficient chemical and biological formulations for pest and disease control in cotton crops," highlighted Fábio Lemos, FMC’s cotton crop manager.

Additionally, Lemos emphasized that the multinational positions itself "alongside the cotton sector, promoting actions and supporting initiatives to ensure that farmers achieve productivity, profitability, and continue producing high-quality fiber."

Another highlight of the portfolio is the Onsuva® fungicide, formulated with an unprecedented carboxamide, fluindapyr, and a triazole commonly used in cotton farming, difenoconazole. It is recommended for the control of Ramularia leaf spot (Ramulariopsis pseudoglycines), Ramulose (Colletotrichum gossypii), and Alternaria leaf blight (Alternaria alternata).

"All these solutions feature active ingredients that are exclusive to FMC. Furthermore, they reaffirm our commitment to investing in research and development to make agribusiness increasingly productive and sustainable," Lemos said.

During the Brazilian Cotton Congress, FMC also introduced the Arc™ farm intelligence platform, capable of predicting pest pressure with over 90% accuracy, leading to more precise crop protection applications to ensure productivity and profitability for farmers.

FMC’s mobile tool also offers regional climate forecasts in partnership with IBM, and it includes patented technology capable of immediately identifying which pest is in the trap. The pest pressure history is available to farmers as an additional decision-making tool, facilitating regional management and a future predictive model.

"In addition to having the most comprehensive and efficient portfolio on the market, we offer integrated management solutions for the entire cycle, seeking resource optimization, higher productivity, better fiber quality, and, consequently, the sustainability of Brazilian cotton," FMC's cotton manager said in conclusion.
