Sell Agro has announced the inauguration of a "reference laboratory" for agrochemical application technology in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso.
According to the company, the aim is for this to be a "space dedicated to research and the development of even more precise solutions for the agricultural sector."
The new facility will feature the Sympatec, an imported Swiss device with innovative laser diffraction technology.
The purpose of this new addition, according to Leandro Viegas, CEO of Sell Agro, is to evaluate the effect of agricultural adjuvants and different types of nozzles on the size and distribution of the droplets produced by the spray mixtures used in the country's main crops.
″This precise analysis that the equipment will provide is essential to ensure the effectiveness of applying pesticides and nutrients and to minimize environmental impact, such as drift, which occurs when droplets are diverted to non-target areas,″ he explained.
Additionally, the data collected and the graphs generated by the primary equipment in the new laboratory will help optimize the configurations and formulations of the spray mixtures. This improves foliar coverage, adhesion to leaves, and penetration into the waxy layer of plants.
"In this way, we contribute to higher productivity and reduced application losses, leading to more efficient and sustainable agricultural production," the executive pointed out.
As explained by Marcelo Hilário, the company's R&D chemist, the machine acquired by Sell Agro is a droplet size marker that measures with high precision, down to 0.5 microns (μm), a unit of length in physical magnitude.
″This is important for us to also adjust our adjuvants with spray mixtures that present problems in the field and to inform the producer of the exact quantities to avoid drift,″ he added.
The new laboratory complements the company's research and development activities, increasing its capacity and precision in offering products and solutions in application technology.
This year, the Sell Agro executive anticipates robust growth driven by innovations that meet field needs. ″In 17 years of operation, we have always grown annually in a secure manner, without compromising cash flow, with natural and healthy growth,″ Viegas noted.
In 2023, the company reached a historic milestone by producing and commercializing more than one million liters of adjuvants, covering a vast application area.
″I highlight the absence of incidents, thanks to our rigorous quality control, from the reception of raw materials to the final delivery to agricultural sprayers. This commitment underscores Sell Agro's dedication to ensuring excellence throughout the Brazilian agribusiness production chain,″ emphasized the CEO.
In the coming months, the executive expected even more intense challenges; in this context, each decision directly impacts field results.
″Sell Agro has positioned itself as a strategic partner for the rural producer, ensuring precision and efficiency in application technology to maximize the success of their crops,″ he said in conclusion.
