Kynetec’s André Dias shares exclusive insights into Brazilian Biological Market Biocontrol

- Biocontrol market value grows at a CAGR of 37% between 2018/9 and 2022/3

- Potential Area Treated (PAT) grows at a CAGR of 32% between 2018/9 and 2022/3

• Cultivated area increases

• Technology level increases for nematicides, fungicides and sucking insects

- Of the main biological organisms, André highlighted that:

• Trichoderma is used on 18% of PAT

• Beauveria b. on 14% of PAT

• Bacillus amyloliquefaciens on 9% of PAT

- Across Brazil, 35% of growers have adopted biologicals, with higher levels of adoption in the Central West States

89% of the PAT for nematode control in soybean is treated with biologicals (2022/3)

- Biologicals growth outpaces the chemical market by two-fold each year

- Growers are choosing biologicals for cost efficiency, with value capture prioritised over cost reduction

- The regulatory environment facilitates innovation, with Biologicals registrations taking around 25% of the time of conventional molecules
