Helping achieve this has been the adoption of Syngenta's new industry standard SALTRO^® Duo fungicide seed treatment, for the control of seedling blackleg. This is now being matched in the innovation stakes by a new Syngenta insecticide solution, EQUENTO^® Extreme seed treatment.

EQUENTO^® Extreme delivers above and below ground protection against early season pests. This canola seed treatment package provides growers with a unique mode of action, that is fast-acting, and long-lasting with no known resistance, making it an excellent management tool for pests such as Redlegged Earth Mites (RLEM) (Halotydeus destructor).

EQUENTO^® Extreme is a combination of proven Thiamethoxam (Group 4A), one of the active ingredients in CRUISER^® Opti, along with Syngenta’s newest global insecticide innovation, PLINAZOLIN^® (IRAC Group 30). The powerful new combination controls a number of early season pests working together synergistically to ensure canola crop establishment risks are managed. As a result, the dual modes of action in EQUENTO^® Extreme offers 3-5 weeks of protection against RLEM while helping to manage insecticide resistance to SP (Group  3A) and OP (Group 1B) chemistry.

As demonstrated in numerous trials and this timelapse video, EQUENTO^® Extreme seed treatment provides protection against RLEM equivalent to Poncho* Plus. The key points for grower consideration being the aforementioned resistance management, combined with a shorter withholding period allowing livestock grazing access two weeks earlier than Poncho* Plus. Both features giving EQUENTO^® Extreme the edge.

EQUENTO^® Extreme has excellent compatibility with other seed treatments for enhanced sowing flexibility. Notably, it’s also highly compatible with the market standard for seedling blackleg control, SALTRO^® Duo – the ultimate combination providing comprehensive control of seedling blackleg, rhizoctonia and pythium in canola.
