The UK agronomy company, ProCam (Melbourn, Hertfordshire), has introduced Nissan Chemical’s fungicide, Shinkon (amisulbrom 200 g/litre), in the UK this season. The product is for the control of late blight (Phytophthora infestans) on potatoes. The suspension concentrate formulation is recommended for use at up to 0.5 litre/ha, with a maximum of six applications per crop.
Shinkon was approved by the UK authorities in September 2007, which was its first global registration. The UK is acting as EU rapporteur for the active ingredient. The European Commission recognised the completeness of the EU application dossier in October 2007. Shinkon is being developed for use in several European countries for use on potatoes and for the control of downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) on grapevines. It is due to be sold through the Sumitomo Chemical subsidiaries, Philagro in France and Kenogard in Spain.
