Iris yellow spot virus (IYSV) infected UK onion plants for the fist time last year, the British Society for Plant Pathology (BSPP) reports. The disease was detected in Suffolk. The infected plants were removed and measures taken to eradicate the infection, the BSPP says. It notes that the disease is "widely distributed" around the world in onion and leek crops.
