The Syrian authorities inaugurated a biopesticide plant in the central province of Hama, 250 kilometers north of the capital, Damascus.
The new plant is unique in the Middle East and produces Trichoderma, a fungus that acts as a fungicide in the application of defoliars, which is used to treat seeds and soil and control various diseases and pests that affect crops.
Mohammed Abdullah Hazouri, Governor of Hama, said the plant was designed and built by Syrian experts and technicians.
"Its role will be key to finding biological enemies of the Nile Flower, which contaminated the entire river bed of the Orontes River," he explained.
